March 2026: Dr. Karyn hosted a fundraising coffee morning at Beaumont on Daffodil Day, successfully raising €425.40 for the Irish Cancer Society.
August 2026: Dr. Catriona took part in the Young Irish Society for Immunology (yISI) Career Event, held as part of the Irish Society for Immunology (ISI) Annual Meeting. The event brought together early career researchers to explore different career pathways in immunology and research. Catriona shared insights from her own career journey, discussing opportunities, challenges and lessons learned along the way. The event provided an opportunity to support and inspire the next generation of scientists as they consider the diverse career paths available to them.

The Dowling Lab launched the ‘Navigating Lung Cancer’ booklet for Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Developed by Saoirse Flanagan, PhD candidate in Dr. Catríona Dowling’s lab at RCSI, and Abhishek Tomar, PhD candidate at the University of Galway, the booklet was completed in partnership with the Irish Lung Cancer Community (ILCC). The booklet covers key topics across the diagnostic and treatment pathway, including staging, biomarker testing, treatment options, supportive care, and signposting to national services. It also includes lived-experience testimonials, reflecting the diversity of experiences across Ireland. The event was lauunched in the RCSI’S Education and Research Centre, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. November 2025: Saoirse organized an educational event on lung cancer, inviting patients to visit Beaumont Hospital. She also released an informational booklet on lung cancer that she created, and then took part in guiding the public through a science outreach tour of the Dr. Catriona’s laboratory.
Robyn was selected as a speaker for Soapbox Science, where she presented her research to the public.
November 2024: Dowling’s lab members hold a coffee morning to rasise support and awareness for the Irish Lung Cancer Community. We raised money for the Irish Lung Cancer Community.
September 2024: Dowling’s lab members join the European Researchers’ Ningt and share our work with the public and connect with peers.
